In 2010, Equine Canada introduced the concept of recreation grants to drive programs to serve Canada’s recreational riders. Recreational riding represents the majority of our rider activity in this country – we are a powerful group putting literally millions of dollars into the economy, annually. Studies show that we begin and end our equestrian careers as recreational riders and programs, services and facilities to meet those needs are in high demand.
The grants are being generated through membership dues and in turn are being redistributed to member clubs and associations to support trail development and advocacy for multi-use trails, equine health and welfare issues (which cross all disciplines), horse and rider safety and trail rider development programs.
Many of our provincial partners have adopted recreation grant programs and we encourage you to visit your provincial equestrian federation web site to learn more.
