Why become a member?

Members of PEC are provided with access to all programs and services offered. These can range from classification clinics for emerging competitive riders to judging seminars. Also, high performance riders require a PEC membership in order to declare for any major games.

Where does my money go?

The $10.00 membership fees are instrumental in promoting and supporting the sport of Para-Equestrian in Canada. PEC is primarily funded through Sport Canada, whose mandate is to assist developing sports while they grow – so membership numbers is an ideal way to demonstrate this growth to them. The fees also fund and facilitate a broad range of PEC programs and services.

PEC has steadily expanded the number of programs available to disabled riders at both the local and international level. Initiatives include video competitions, grant programs, coaching seminars and officials clinics, all of which have been very successful.

The PEC high performance program has also had outstanding success, as performances at the 2008 Paralympic Games can testify. Lauren Barwick won both a gold and silver medal, contributing mightily to the Canadian team’s 7th place finish.

Membership fees and donations are vital to the success of these PEC programs, particularly as we prepare for upcoming international events like the 2010 World Equestrian Games and the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
