Canadian Para Equestrian Committee (CPEC)

Para-Equestrian Canada is the Equine Canada discipline committee responsible for managing programs on behalf of the Para-Equestrian community. It also administers the high performance program for dressage riders with a disability.

Composition:

The Canadian Para-Equestrian Committee (CPEC) is made up of six elected members and one athlete representative. Current CPEC members include:

Purpose & Objectives:

The core objectives of Para-Equestrian Canada are:
  • To develop a broad-based educated Para-Equestrian community
  • To create the means for Canadian Paralympic teams and individuals to achieve international medal performances
  • To achieve the financial stability and sustainability needed to realize its mandate and mission
  • To develop and implement programs on behalf of the Para-Equestrian community
  • To administer the high performance program for dressage riders with a disability

Elections:

The CPEC accepts nominations for candidates to fill vacant positions on the committee. All positions are two-year terms, and the elections are usually arranged after Equine Canada’s Annual General Meeting according to the following timeline.

2010 Canadian Para-Equestrian Committee Election Criteria

To be eligible to nominate or vote for a CPEC candidate, individuals must be:

•    Members of Para-Equestrian Canada as of November 2nd, 2009
