In November, I had the great privilege of representing the interests of the Canadian equine sector at a series of national and international decision-making councils, amongst others: Equine Canada's national meetings at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto; the International Equestrian Federation's General Assembly; and the Canadian Olympic Committee's AGM. |

I am grateful to all our members who sent me an electronic "tap on the shoulder" via e-mail in response to my tweets during the debates, to express their views on the positions Canada should take, and I plan to reprise Twittering at this page during the next set of major Equine Canada meetings. Twittering is a novel approach for Equine Canada in the engagement of our members in national and international decision-making, and I can not claim to be certain about how well it is likely to work in the long term. Tweeting has great power in its immediacy, but it also has inherent limitations in its ability to convey context and nuance. I hope that you will give us your judgement on this experiment as it unfolds. |
