Desi’s Diary from Deutschland | Print |

Aachen, August 16th 2014 -- At the end of July, Belinda Trussell and Anton arrived in Europe to join the other Canadian Team riders. Our aim was to have a test run as a team for the first time, but in the end we had David Marcus with Chevri’s Capital and Belinda Trussell with Anton. The Verden show, near Hanover, is world famous for holding the five and six year old championships and at the same time there are other young horse classes, but also a Large Tour and a Small Tour. Both of our combinations did us extremely proud. David and Cappy pulled off their Personal Best at 72.3 in the Grand Prix and Belinda was just under at 69.7%. There were 31 horses in the class, with some of the biggest names in the sport. The American’s also used this as a final outing before team selection, and David came a fantastic 2nd to Stephan Peters and Legolas and Belinda finished 10th. Due to a reopened cut on his hind leg, David withdrew for the Grand Prix Special, but Belinda and Anton came in with all guns blazing and finished 5th overall with a score of 71.48%
