July 31, 2010 — Equine Canada’s Breeds & Industry Division and
Health & Welfare Committee would like to inform all stakeholders
that effective immediately the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)
has lifted their restrictions for horses from Arizona.

June 29, 2010 — The Breeds & Industry Division of Equine Canada
would like to inform all stakeholders that Health Canada is advising
veterinarians, livestock producers and pet owners that Vétoquinol N.-A.
has voluntarily expanded the December 2009 recall of the prescription
veterinary drug Longisil (DIN 00461679) to include one new lot, due to
an unusually high number of reports of allergic reactions in animals
treated with this lot.

June 10, 2010 — Equine Canada wishes to announce the launch of a
national telephone survey — the National Equine Industry Traceability
Readiness Study. The study is one of two research and data gathering
exercises that are being conducted during the development phase of the
national equine identification and traceability program. The information
gathered during the research exercises will be used to inform the
creation and implementation of a national program that best serves the
needs of Canadian horse owners and industry participants.

June 1, 2010 — The Breeds & Industry Division of Equine Canada would
like to inform all stakeholders that, due to the reported finding of
horses infected with vesicular stomatitis (VS) in Arizona, US, the
Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has asked the United States
Department of Agriculture (USDA) to suspend the issuance or endorsement
of export certificates for horses and other equines for all end-uses
originating from the state of Arizona.

 March 31, 2010 — The latest Equine Canada Export Preparedness Training
seminars in the cross-Canada series were held in Guelph, ON, on March
27, and Kemptville, ON, on March 28, 2010. Speakers and topics were
selected to provide attendees with the tools required to strengthen
Canada’s ability to export horses and equine genetics to countries
around the world. Breeders, along with other stakeholders involved in
the business of rearing, developing and marketing horses, were in
attendance.

March 25, 2010 — With the next two Equine Canada Export Preparedness
Seminars scheduled for March 27 in Guelph, ON, and March 28 in
Kemptville, ON, participants are encouraged to attend without the
previous requirement of pre-registration. Participants can register and
pay at the door on the day of each event.
