March 4, 2010 — The locations and dates of the next two Equine Canada
Export Preparedness Seminars have been established for the month of
March, following the first in the series that was held in Montreal, QC,
in February during Equine Canada’s Annual Convention. Additional
seminars will be held across Canada throughout the year.

Presentation and discussion session regarding national equine identification and traceability system to be featured
February 3, 2010 — The 2010 Equine Canada Annual Convention is to be
held February 1-8, 2010 at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel in
Montreal, Quebec. The Breeds & Industry Delegate Assembly,
scheduled for Saturday, February 6th, will include a presentation
session to inform members about Equine Canada’s strategy for a national
equine identification and traceability system.

2010—Equine Canada would like to inform all industry stakeholders that the
Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced the implementation of new a
Meat Hygiene Directive concerning all equines (domestic and imported)
intended for slaughter at federally-inspected meat processing plants. As of July
31st, slaughter facilities will be allowed to process only those
equines with complete health records dating back six months. The maintenance of
health records must begin by February 1st, for equines that are
intended to be sent to (or sold for) processing on or after July 31st
of this year.

January 22, 2010 — Breeders of horses in Canada enjoy unique advantages
found nowhere else in the world. As Canada is geographically vast,
breeders must draw on unique solutions that will consolidate their
efforts so that they can leverage off of these advantages to become a
leading exporter of horses to the world.

January 11, 2010 — The Breeds & Industry Division of Equine Canada
would like to inform all stakeholders that Health Canada is warning
veterinarians, livestock producers and pet owners that one lot of the
prescription veterinary drug Longisil is being recalled due to an
unusually high number of adverse reactions in animals treated with this
lot.

equine piroplasmosis in the state of New Mexico, the Canadian Food
Inspection Agency (CFIA) is implementing the following import
restrictions effective January 11, 2010:
